Want Blemish-Free Glowing Skin? Consider An IPL Photofacial

When you’re concerned with how your skin looks because of dark spots, sun damage, or acne scarring, an IPL photofacial in Dallas, TX, can help. At Evolve Med Spa, board-certified physician Dr. Tricia Shimer performs a skin analysis to see if a patient qualifies for Lumecca IPL or intense pulsed light therapy. This skin rejuvenation treatment helps men and women with hyperpigmentation on the face and chest achieve blemish-free skin. It is minimally invasive and uses intense pulses of light to reduce redness, rosacea and pigmented areas. What results is brighter and healthier-looking skin. Patients see an improved skin tone, fewer hyperpigmentation spots, and a youthful glow.

Am I a candidate for a photofacial?

During a skin analysis at our Dallas, TX office, we can determine if you qualify for an IPL photofacial. This photofacial works by going deep into the layers of the skin to improve different complexion concerns, such as lesions or sunspots. There is little to no recovery needed. The best candidates for IPL photofacials are those with:

  • Rosacea

  • Brown spots (hyperpigmentation)

  • Sun damage

  • Flushing

  • Visible pores

  • Rough texture

  • Sun and age spots

  • Dilated capillaries

Dr. Shimer can determine if you qualify for this skin rejuvenation treatment. If IPL is not right for you, she can offer other recommendations for how to get rid of hyperpigmentation and have an even skin tone.

What happens during an IPL photofacial?

One of our experienced aestheticians at Evolve Med Spa will perform IPL treatment in a private room. When this is your only treatment, it takes about 20 – 30 minutes. To prepare for the Lumecca IPL treatment, we will clean and dry the skin to be treated and cover your eyes with shields. The IPL photofacial is performed with a handheld device that passes over the skin and emits pulses of intense light energy. Some patients experience very mild discomfort throughout the photofacial, but it is overall tolerable.

Recovery from Lumecca IPL

There is no real recovery necessary with a photofacial. However, you may look swollen and pink for about a day. Dr. Shimer recommends patients apply a cream on the skin to promote healing and help with any irritation. Anti-inflammatory medication will be prescribed to help with swelling. For the next few days, any irregularities will rise to the surface of your skin and start to flake away. Do not pick at your skin as it heals as it can jeopardize your results.

Can I get multiple IPL sessions?

While you will have visible skin improvements after your first treatment, your skin will get the best results from multiple photofacial sessions. Dr. Shimer recommends most patients in Dallas, TX get 3 – 6 sessions of Lumecca IPL monthly at Evolve Med Spa. This is recommended since it delivers gradual improvements to your skin. Each treatment will fade spots and other surface irregularities, and produce longer-lasting improvements.
