What is Restylane?
Dallas, TX board-certified physician Dr. Tricia Shimer provides a wide range of filler products to help correct signs of facial aging, addressing lost volume, wrinkles, and lines. Restylane is one of the most popular brands of injectable wrinkle fillers because it treats many concerns with specialized formulas for long-lasting results. It uses a synthetic version of the body's natural HA (hyaluronic acid), giving the complexion a natural, softer appearance that is more supple and full. A unique dermal filler plan can treat mild, moderate, or severe facial lines and wrinkles, as well as add fullness to the lips and mid-face. Evolve Med Spa carries several Restylane products, including:
- Restylane: Addresses facial folds and wrinkles
- Restylane Defyne: Fills in moderate to deep smile and laugh wrinkles
- Restylane Lyft: Adds volume and lift in the mid-face
- Restylane Refyne: Fills in moderate smile and laugh wrinkles
- Restylane Silk: Creates fullness in the lips and corrects vertical lip lines

Am I a Candidate for Restylane?
Restylane treatments are great for any adult patient who wants to refresh their overall facial appearance. Since there many products and options to choose from, your procedure will be personalized to meet your needs and aesthetics goals. Restylane may help you treat early signs of aging, such as fine facial lines, or improve the fullness and definition of your lips and cheeks. It may also improve moderate or severe wrinkles, like frown lines, laugh lines, Crow's feet, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and more. Several of the Restylane products contain lidocaine, a local anesthetic, so you should disclose any known allergies during your consultation with Dr. Shimer to avoid a reaction.
How Is Restylane Treatment Performed?
Restylane injections will be performed inside one of our treatment rooms at Evolve Med Spa. A numbing cream can be applied for increased comfort if preferred. The product is injected into your skin through a very fine needle and then massaged so it reaches the needed areas. Several injections may be performed, followed by a cold compress to help control swelling. Each Restylane formula is administered with a similar technique, but specific injections could be carried out differently based on your treatment area and aesthetic goals.
What to Expect After Restylane Treatment
When your Restylane injections are complete, you can return to your normal activities. Your recovery period could vary, depending on what you are having treated so your injector will provide specific directions after treatment. The areas will be slightly swollen and red, but this usually fades away after a few hours. Bruising may appear, but this can usually be concealed with cosmetics. It's suggested that you avoid exercise for 24 hours, and sleep upright for at least the first night. Many patients enjoy obvious improvements immediately after treatment, but it may take 1 – 2 weeks until the final results appear. Restylane treatments often last up to one year based on the formula used.
